4 weeks prior to sailing.

Is it possible to participate in the yacht week without renting a boat. Say, we have our own boat and want to join the party?
This is not possible. You will not be able to join TYW in our events in different harbours.
-
When is the check out of the boats? What do we need to do before check out?
You need to check out your boat before 9.00 am Saturday morning.
Before the check out, you need to take out all your bagage, trash and left over food/drinks.
If you have bought the "comfort package" (which we recomend you to do), the cleaning of the boat is included. You just have to collect all the sheets and towels that you have used and put them in a pile in on of the cabins. -
Do we have to pay additional marina fees during our trip in each harbor? And are there more additional costs during this week? (like entrance for organized parties etc.)
There will be additional fees for the harbours. It will cost about €5-10/person for a night. You will probably only need to moor in 3 or 4 harbours during the week.
Entrance to the parties we arrange will cost between €5-10. -
Hi, what is the minimum swedish navigational certificate? Förarintyg? Kustskeppare?
Förarintyg is the minimum required Swedish certificate for both Croatia and Greece.
-
What about the fuel? Do we have to pay it ?
Yes, you need to pay for the fuel.
-
What is the name of the first song in the trailer to yacht week?
1. Pryda - Miami to Atlanta
2. MGMT - Electric feel
3. Temper Trap - Sweet Disposition (axwell / Dirty South Remix) -
Are we expected to provide our skipper with food on board?
Yes, the skipper is one more friend in your crew, since he/she lives with you all the time on the boat. If you are a crew with girls, you are not charged anything for your skipper. The only thing you pay, is his/hers food on the boat and his/her harbour fees.
-
We want to book a boat for 7 people which costs 314 €/person, but we don´t have skipper, so we need one! Is the price per person of the boat the same (314 €) or do we have to divide the total cost of the boat (2200€) between the six girls, so that we wold have to pay 367€ each?
Yes, if you book a boat for 7 persons, but one of them is an external skipper, the price will be higher. The prices that are specified one our homepage are the price per person if you do not need an external skipper.
You would have to pay 367€/person if you are six persons renting the boat. But since you are a crew with girls, you do not have to pay the cost for an external skipper (150€). -
When can we book for summer 2010?
On the 5th of December.
-
what would be the real total cost for a yacht for 6 persons includig all costs skipper, cleaning, dock in de harbours, gas, parties, etc.?; can we sleep in the boat in every island or do we need to book a hotel in some of them?
This question is not possible to answer exactly. It all depends on how you wish to spend your money during your vacation. If you chose to have all your meals on board your boat, it will be cheaper than eating out every day. Or if you stay in harbours every night, instead of going to natural harbours some nights.
You will all sleep on the boat every night. That is why you rent the boat. It's your floating home for one week.
Please have a look at previous questions about harbour fees etc. It will help you to get a better idea of what the costs will be. -
What are average ages for people on the Greece and Croatia trips?? Also do you get many Canadians that come over??
The average age for Croatia is 23-24 years old. For Greece it is 24 - 25 years old.
This year we have our first Canadian bookings signing up. -
What are the insurance conditions? We like to know who is responsible for what during the trip.
The Insurance is issued by the Yachting Company and is a Kasko insurance (full insurance), also third party insurance and insurance for the crew.
Insurance papers are all the time with the clients in the boat documents.
In case of the accident – client need to call the Yachting Company and nearest Harbor master office (Yachting Company provides the phone numbers) to make a report. If the accident (damage) is cause by skipper’s negligence then deposit money is kept to pay for the damage.
If it is fault of the third party then insurance is covering it.
Deposit is the amount of the franchise. Please login to your booking to see the deposit for your yacht.
A personal travel insurance for personal injury or disease is also recommended for all guests, that is done domestically with your local insurance provider, as for any journey.
A document should be signed within the group in case the deposit is withheld. The economic responsibility shall be equal among the crew, the skipper shall not cover that himself. Also, the skipper does not pay part of the deposit. -
I've heard that you may have to schedule and book your route between the harbours in advance since there is not enough space for all the boats sailing this week, is this true and how do we do that?
On our website there is a route prepared for all The Yacht Week participants. You do not need to schedule your own route. But if you wish to sail on your own, and not with the rest of The Yacht Week participants, you are welcome to do that. It is not an obligation to follow the route that we have prepared.
There is no 100% guarantee that all boats will find a space in every marina. So be sure to get sailing on time every day. -
Will there be any transfer between Zagreb´s airport and Kastela marina?
No. A tip is to look for a domestic flight on momondo.com
-
On the page with the yachts the prices are crossed out. Does this mean the respective yacht is already booked? Are there any boats left for summer 2010?
If a boat is crossed out on the website, it means that this boat is booked. There are still boats left for the summer of 2010.
-
All my friends are 20; and i'm 18. Is it still possible to book? Because I heard that there were alse people from 18 last year?
You have to be 20 years old to participate in TYW. We are more stricter about this for the summer of 2010.
-
I was wondering about the prizes, for example the Bavaria 40 40 ft. € 2700 € 338 / pers. has that information posted, is it 2700 euro depositum and 338 euro per person per week, or does the 2700 come in addition to the 338?
The 388 euros dose not come as an extra fee, this is what the estimated price per person is for a boat that costs 2700. You just divide the boat cost on how many people that can be on board.
-
From which Countries does the majorities of your guest come from? and is there a difference depending on the week?
Hi!
20% is Swedish, 15% Norwegian, 15% Spanish + a big mix of all of Europe + USA/Canada. All weeks are just about the same.
-
What happens if someone in my crew becomes sick or can't participate in the event?
Travel insurance can be purchased from all major insurance companies. Please sign a specific travel insurance directly with your insurance company.
-
Do you have more than one boat of each model?
Yes, we have several boats of some of the models. If they are available in the yacht list, then we still have boats left.
-
Is it possible to book and participate at The Yacht Week for two persons, and to be placed on a yacht with other people?
YES! But you have to find your own crew. We recommend that you post a comment under the "LOOKING FOR CREW" disussion topic in our Facebook group http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=5857723741. We will direct all people with the same request there. Good Luck!
-
At what time do we need to arrive at the marina?
Before 4 p.m. to be sure of that you will be able to check out your boat the first night. Usually it is possible to check out the boat until the sunset comes.
-
Can we take a plane leaving the last day in the morning (Saturday)?
You have to be back in the harbour on Friday evening. Every boat has to do there check out from their boat before 9 a.m. on Saturday. It is your choice to book an early flight on Saturday. We will assist you with transfer to the airport.
-
When do we know who's our skipper? I know that some allready have got one.
Normally you should be assigned a skipper by the time we receive your first payment but sometimes it might take longer.
-
Which currency do you recommend for 1) paying The Yacht Week for additional costs (except deposit) when checking in 2) harbour fees, tourist life (shopping, restaurants etc)
We recommend for:
1) - Kuna is the currency for Croatia, Euro for Ibiza and Greece. In BVI you can use US Dollars.
2) Local currency (Most hotels, restaurants and shops accept credit cards (American Express, Diners Club, Eurocard/Mastercard, Visa, Sport Card International). -
What's the maximum age for joining?
No maximum age! Everyone is welcome. However average age is around 24-28 yrs.
-
What is the average spending for food and non-boat related costs (harbours, gaz etc) ?
Food is up to what type of breakfast and lunch you eat. Not more than €10 per day I guess? Restaurants cost approx €10 - €30 with wine. It's very hard to predict your costs.
Some crews eat all meals on board and drink most of their drinks on board as well. Others go for breakfast and dinner at restaurants + champagne at the night clubs.
All I can say is that it's possible to go on a tight budget if you want to.
-
I am witnessing a significant influx of demand for TYW this year. I guarantee your trips will be sold out - is there any way to host an additional trip in mid-late July?
Hi!
Week 29, 17-24 of July, is the earliest week we will have an event this year. We don't have staff and time enough to arrange yet another event.
Best Regards,
The Yacht Week Team

Is it possible to pay extra to have the "own risk" part reduced or eliminated in case of something happening? (I know many of the rental-companies in Split provide this service)
Hi!
Unfortunately not. The deposit is the total amount of money you risk to lose if you damage your yacht. Maximum damage so far has been 1000 Euro for a lost dinghy (rubber boat) belonging to the yacht.
Let us know if you want more info!
Best Regards,
The Yacht Week Team
Best

What are the requirements to skipper a boat yourself in Greece?
Hi!
You need to have a nautical certificate as listed on our website on the skipper page.
+ a co-skipper in Greece. A co-skipper is someone else in the crew that states that he/she will assist the skipper.
(the co-skipper doesn't need official documents, just have to sign a paper) -
What week is the international one in Greece?
Both of them. No country is over represented any of the weeks right now.
-
What are the typical bar prices at the parties? Is it private parties(only the guest on the yacht week), or is it open to the public and other tourist?
Hi!
A gin & tonic would cost about € 3-6.
A bottle of wine €15-25
In general very low prices but 2 night clubs have slightly higher prices than the "local bars" at the Islands.
Most parties are open to the local crowd of the Island but not to other sailing yacht tourists. Since a lot of people book yachts outside of The Yacht Week we can't let them join the parties as they aren't our customers + we have to stop bookings. (otherwise all weeks would over 100 yachts every week...) -
Is there any average age difference between the weeks?
Yes, but not much. Most weeks have an average age between 24-28 years. It varies from 20-35 right now.
-

Hi!
The skipper will sleep in the skipper cabin. The yacht is for 10 guests + the skipper.
Best Regards,
The Yacht Week Team
