BASICS ABOUT GETTING THERE:

Tortola, your final destination, is the main island of the BVI's and is where the yachts are located. The airport is called Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport (code EIS), formerly Beef Island Airport.
There are no direct flights to Tortola from the EU or the US.

You can fly to any other island in the Caribbean and get to the BVI's easily by plane or boat.

  • San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU)
  • St. Thomas (STT)
  • St. Croix (STX)
  • St. Martin (SXM)
  • Antigua (ANU)

Just scan the web for the best prices to any of the islands close to the BVI.

We recommend US citizens fly directly to St. Thomas, which is very close and only a 45min boat ride to the BVI - see details below!

  • Best option is to fly to St. Thomas (code STT) and take a ferry to Tortola
  • Fly to Puerto Rico, San Juan (code SJU) and take a flight to Tortola (SJU-EIS)
  • Fly to Antigua (code ANU) and take a flight to Tortola(ANU-EIS)

We have found the best flight prices from Europe to Puerto Rico and all connecting boats and planes. We suggest that you stay on Tortola or go directly to Puerto Rico and spend a few days there before heading home. There are basically 3 alternatives if flying from Europe:

  • Fly to Puerto Rico, San Juan (code SJU) and take a flight to Tortola (SJU-EIS)
  • Fly to St. Thomas (code STT) and take a ferry to Tortola
  • Fly to Antigua (code ANU) and take a flight (ANU-EIS). From the UK there are flights with British Airways from London Gatwick (GTW) to Tortola (EIS).

Ferry

Price is about $55

If you fly in to St. Thomas (USVI) then a short ferry ride is needed to get to Tortola. St. Thomas is very close and the ferry to Tortola goes on a regular basis, taking 45 minutes.

  • The best option is to take a ferry to Roadtown, which drops you off a short taxi ride or about a 15 minute walk to the Footloose marina. For a ferry schedule check out the website: www.roadtownfastferry.com
