Croatia – South Route
Welcome to Croatia – South Route!
This is where The Yacht Week began and is our original sailing route. It runs from two locations – Marina Kaštela and Split – and takes you on an epic journey visiting four islands in seven days. On Wednesday you stop in Hvar, which is renown for its parties and where we host our infamous after beach party. With room for up to 50 yachts the regatta is a definite highlight giving everyone a chance to show off their newly acquired sailing skills before heading off to the last night party.
Marina Kaštela and Split Marina
The yachts are located in one of two marinas near Split. Check your yacht information in order to find out which marina you should go to. Your yacht will be available for you and your crew at around 17:00 on the departure day. We recommend that you arrive to the marina during the afternoon in order to have time for shopping and sort out the paperwork, leave a safety deposit and check-in to your yacht.
Day 1 (Saturday) – Split
All the boats will be spread over three piers and you will have a chance to meet your fellow sailors before heading off to the old town for the welcome dinner and drinks.
Day 2 (Sunday) – Vis
The town of Vis has a long promenade with many good restaurants where they offer fresh fish and lobster! Be sure to go out for dinner here. We recommend restaurant Kaliopa where all the tables are spread out in a romantic and beautiful garden filled with palm trees and flowers. We arrange the party at “Vista Klub”, which is an old outdoor theatre that has been converted into a great venue with a view over the whole bay. Enjoy the fresh ocean breeze while ordering a drink at the bar and overlooking your yacht at anchor in the water.
The island today looks like paradise, but was only opened to foreigners in 1994 as it was the military headquarters for the dictator Tito. As a result, Vis is basically untouched since the 1970′s and has retained almost all of its varied historical architecture. The island offers a great deal of interesting sites including, submarine docks, gun towers like “Navarone” and tunnels kilometers long through the mountain.
Day 3 (Monday) – Komiza
Untouched and charming Komiza is a small fishing village located on the western bay of Vis island. It’s picturesque houses and beautiful front are filled with restaurants, which is simply a lovely scene. Make sure you walk around and explore the little village with small boutiques and great ice cream. Most of the yachts will stay at anchor here and take a taxi boat to the pier in the evening. Around the corner from the village you will find the beach club where we arrange an open air party right by the water. The DJ stops when the last person leaves the dance floor…
Day 4 (Tuesday) – Scedro
A very small island with a well protected natural bay on the north side. Enjoy an evening in one of the three restaurants or cook on board. Why not invite your neighbouring yacht over for drinks? This evening is very spontaneous and often ends in late night parties on the yachts.
Day 5 (Wednesday) – Hvar
The St. Tropez of Croatia! You have probably already heard of Hvar as it’s the most famous place along the Croatian coast. The marble front is filled with boutiques, bars, restaurants and cafes. Make sure you get here early as we arrange a well known after beach party that you will love. All yachts are moored in Palmizana Marina right outside Hvar on a small island or in the town. As this is a very popular place it’s recommended to arrive early to get a mooring spot.
Day 6 (Thursday) – Solta – Natural Bay
For 4 years this part of the northwest bay, “Sesula”, at Solta has been extremely popular! We arrange a party “on the rocks” at Sismis Cocktail Bar. All the yachts will line up by anchor along the bay. Enjoy drinks on the deck and watch the sun go down. The perfect place to socialise with other crews!
Day 7 (Friday) – Friday Regatta & Regatta Party
On Fridays we arrange a Regatta for all the yachts. By now you should be good enough to help your skipper like a top race crew. The regatta winners are chosen based on:
- Sailing time
- Atmosphere on board
- Clothing and decorations
Regatta winners will be announced at the Regatta Party!
