Join as an Skipper!

Sign up to join as a skipper and we will find a crew that needs one. You will be part of their crew and have an incredible holiday together! This has been very popular, in 2009 we had 89 skippers participating this way.

All you have to pay for is your flight down and personal expenses ashore. (such as food and drinks at restaurants if you decide to eat on your own). Your crew is responsible for all of the yacht costs and other expenses, as well as meals onboard the boat and at restaurants with your crew.

Sounds like a good deal? Want to get in line to be a skipper on a yacht this summer? Go to our SKIPPER SIGNUP to register if you want to join as a skipper!
If you have questions about joining as a skipper, try checking out the skipper FAQ. It should answer at least some of them.

Competency Requirements:

CROATIA: The skipper needs to have a navigational certificate + VHF-licence

GREECE: The skipper + a crew member needs to have a navigational certificate (NO VHF-licence)

IBIZA: The skipper needs to have a navigational certificate

Most important is that you feel safe in maneuvering a sailing yacht! Original copies of license certificates should be provided on embarkation.

Your yacht & crew:

Upon register yourself as a skipper you will request:

  • maximum size of yacht you can handle.
  • If you prefer a boy, girl or mixed crew.
  • What languages you speak.
  • Any other special requests.

During the spring we will assign you to an availible crew (random).

Responsibility:

Damages on the yacht that result from an accident caused by the skipper are paid equally by ALL crew members (passengers and captain), based on a signed contract. If the damage is caused solely by the passengers, then the captain is not responsible for the cost of those damages.

If damage is caused by the skipper as a result of alcohol or obvious carelessness, then the skipper is require to pay for all of those damages.

The maximum cost from an accident will be the security deposit fee divided by all crew members (approximately €150-200/person). This has not occurred on previous trips, although there have been minor damages to the boat sometimes totaling €100-500 per boat.

What do you get?

  • A really good time sailing!
  • A crew that really appreciates you and takes care of you!
  • Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner every day.
  • Lot’s of new international friends.
  • A good network of fellow skippers!
  • Skipper Shirt & free Skippers dinner party!
It’s a good way to finance a sailing life style! There is a reason why our concept has more than doubled every year since we started – People love it! Skippers love it!
