Michael Johansson

My name is Michael Johansson and I’m 23 years old. I won my first analog SLR camera in a competition held by a local newspaper when I was 10 years old. I instantly fell in love with the art of photography and even though film was a bit to expensive for a 10 year old I still shot a bunch of rolls every year. A couple of years later I was able to afford my first digital camera and at the age of 16 I started working as a freelance photographer, mostly focusing on the action sports industry.

Today my assignments are widely spread, from weddings to hardcore skiing in the alps and sailing trips in the Caribbean. I love the kind of variety the job has to offer and the fact that you can basically practice it all over the world without being tied down to a specific place. I love to travel and I try to seize every chance I get to explore new places. The best part of shooting for the Yacht week is the opportunity to get to know new people, see new places and capture stunning environments while enjoying the life on a boat. A couple of years ago I discovered film-making and got hooked on that as well. Today I’m running a production company, combining photography and video to be able to offer my clients exactly what they’re looking for. Hope to see you on one of the yachts this summer!
