Our obligations with the charter companies begin 24 hours after your initial booking. As a result, should you decide to cancel your booking within the first 24 hours we can refund any payments made by you. Unfortunately, should you cancel your booking after 24 hours, any sum paid cannot be refunded – so keep this in mind when making a booking (i.e. ensure that your whole crew is able/willing to pay so that you don’t make a payment before your friends and find you are out of pocket).

TYW operates a strict age policy: all guests must be at least 20 years of age. If you do not meet this age requirement, you will not be accepted onto any of TYW events.

Air conditioning on a yacht is not of the same standard you may be used to on land! AC on board is designed to be used when docked in the evenings and whilst sleeping. The cooling ability is not as powerful as AC found on land and when used continuously during the day the chance of malfunction increases. During the day, jump up on top deck and enjoy the sea breeze!

Where you choose to cancel your booking, the Lead Booker should inform us immediately at Whilst we understand that circumstances change, any payment received from you triggers our obligations with the charter companies; as a result, any cancellation by you will incur a cancellation charge plus a 5% administration fee. The minimum charge will depend on the time of cancellation and your destination and are as follows (the charges represent a percentage of your total booking cost):
Yacht Bookings and Cabin Bookings: Within the first 24 hours of booking or reserving only – 0%;
From 24 hours after booking to no later than 30 days from the booking date – 10%;
Thereafter, until 91 days prior to the event date (check your booking to see the exact date): 40%;
Within 90 days, or less, prior to the event date (check your booking to see the exact date): 100%.
*Please Note*: if your payment plan differs to that in the payments section of this page, the cancellation charges shall differ to those detailed above and shall reflect your payment terms. For the avoidance of doubt and by way of clarity, where you cancel a booking with a differing payment plan, we shall retain all sums paid up until cancellation

Whilst some changes can be made by yourself on the online booking system, some changes must be made by emailing This may involve manual changes which will incur an admin fee, for further information please refer to the terms and conditions which can be found within the Legal section of our website.

If you have a complaint whilst on holiday, please address your complaints to a member of TYW staff and/or yacht supplier at the earliest possible opportunity as many complaints can be solved on the spot. If you cannot get a prompt resolution from the onsite team, it is essential that you report your complaint to the London office immediately by emailing

It is important that you tell us about any special needs and requirements so that suitable arrangements can be made. TYW cannot be held responsible (and will not compensate you) if you fail to tell us about special needs/requirements that may impact upon your holiday.

As we cannot provide compensation or reimbursement for lost flights, guests are advised to book flights to and from the relevant destination well outside check in and check out times in order to accommodate for any unforeseeable or unpreventable circumstances.

Booking is done by one person, the lead booker, online. This person will be responsible for organising payments, filling out the crew list details and acting as the main contact upon arrival and departure. The lead booker is responsible for making sure payments are made on time.

As we work with more than one marina in each destination, be sure to check the starting marina you are departing from. If you have friends sailing the same week as you, make sure you both book yachts departing from the same starting marina in order to guarantee you will be together for the duration of the week.

You can read the full details of the additional safety measures and testing requirements here.

It is your responsibility to have valid travel documents. You must ensure that you have a valid passport and any necessary visas to enter any country you are visiting, including transit stops, prior to your departure. We do not accept any responsibility if you cannot travel because you have not complied with these requirements.

The booking ratio refers to the gender ratio at the time the Lead Booker makes a booking; this cannot be changed once the holiday has been booked - The Yacht Week staff may be able to authorise a change, however, this could incur an admin fee in accordance with the terms and conditions. If at check-in, your crew ratio does not conform to the booking ratio, you may be charged a €200 administration fee for each guest that requires adjustment.

The price for the skipper and host does not include associated food costs. It is customary for guests to provide at least 3 meals a day for any skipper/host on their booking.

Whilst we aim to provide the highest level of services, some components of the holiday (such as wi-fi, bathrooms, air-conditioning, refrigeration etc.) will differ from the standard of service that you may experience whilst at home.

The route as provided to you prior to departure is subject to change as changes in weather and other external factors are out of our control.

The price you pay does not include travel insurance as The Yacht Week does not sell or organise such insurance. In accordance with our bookings terms and conditions, you must have sufficient travel insurance that covers adventurous activities such as sailing prior to the commencement of your holiday. If you are concerned about travel disruption in the event of Airspace closure (e.g. drone disruption), avalanche, earthquake, medical epidemic, storms and even ash cloud, we advise purchasing Extended Travel Disruption Insurance. Most travel insurance companies offer this cover for a small additional fee and it gives reassurance that your trip is covered in the event of unforeseen air travel disruption.

As The Yacht Week involves lots of time spent on or in water, avoid swimming when warning flags show, take care at all times and never dive into water without checking the depth. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are comfortable and safe when in the water; whilst we advise that you inform your skipper and/or hostess if you are a weak swimmer, ultimately the responsibility in terms of your safety when in the water lies with you. If you are concerned about your ability to swim, please ask your skipper about using a life jacket

There is a possibility the yacht you choose when making your booking may not be available. As a result we reserve the right to cancel your booking up to 5 working days from your booking date. In all cases we will endevour to offer an apppropriate alternative yacht. If a suitable replacement is not available a full refund will be offered.

Upon arrival, the yacht charter company may require a deposit to cover additional cleaning, loss, or damage caused to the boat. This will be refunded (less any sums deducted for damages) at the end of your trip. Payment can usually be made by credit or debit card although some charter companies accept cash only. The payment of this deposit is strictly between you and the charter company; The Yacht Week is not a party to this agreement and cannot accept liability for the return or loss of the amount. We strongly advise for the whole crew, or if not the whole crew at least the Lead Booker, to be present at check out in order to contest any deductions the charter company may make. If you or the Lead Booker is not present, the skipper will be forced to sign off on deductions that are not attributable to them, which could risk the partial/whole loss of your deposit. You are responsible for the whole yacht and not just your proportion or cabin.
