Who you are

We are searching for a motivated, results-driven Commercial Executive who’s enthusiastic about data & is based in London full time. You’ll have exposure across various departments in a fast-paced environment with a start-up mentality. If business insights, statistics and data are your bread & butter, you just might be someone we’d like to meet.

You’ll be working with a budget €5m+ annually & your decisions will impact every aspect of Day 8’s business. So, naturally we’re looking for someone who is extremely switched on when it comes to numbers. As an analytical thinker, you’ll also enjoy problem-solving.

About the role

Working closely with our Commercial Manager, you’ll handle supplier management and administration for every yachting brand within the Day 8 portfolio – The Yacht Week, The Ski Week, Yachts & Friends and Quarterdeck. You will be personally responsible for setting and monitoring pricing changes for our products & for making changes driven by data to ensure we remain as competitive & profitable as possible. Through collaborative efforts (and superb persuasion skills!) you’ll get tasks and projects over the line, before the deadline, every time.

Job Deliverables:

The role will encompass the following:

  • Pricing & yield management - working with our Commercial team to implement an annual pricing strategy & then with our Commercial Manager to adjust pricing & margins to ensure budgeted booking levels are achieved. You’ll also regularly look at new ways to maximise profit and innovate our product offering in a hyper-competitive market for all Day 8 brands.
  • Business data - you’ll be responsible for producing weekly reports that’ll lead to critical business decisions, all based on credible & accurate data. You'll work with our Commercial Manager to compile reports for Board Meetings and Monthly Business Reviews.
  • Management of inventory across Day 8’s brands, ensuring we have sufficient inventory to consistently achieve our weekly cost & margins targets. You’ll work closely & regularly with the Commercial Manager to rejuvenate our budgeting process & also the tools we use to track KPIs.
  • Relationship management - you’ll cultivate relationships with both external and internal stakeholders, proposing strategies to maximise opportunities for the company with our suppliers.
  • Risk management - ensuring contractual risk is tracked & minimized across Day8’s brands, through careful management of cancellations & the maximization of our capacity.
  • Contractual negotiation - provide data & insights to support the negotiation of annual contracts, finding the best value for the business & adding more layers of commercial protection.

Key Stakeholders:

  • Board & CEO - to support the Commercial Manager with any reporting required for the board
  • Finance - to support on the annual budgets and sign-off on pricing, risk management, processing supplier payments and regularly reviewing cash flow
  • Operations - to support all operational requirements related to yacht sourcing & liaising with Charter Companies
  • Customer Service and Sales - to support complex changes to bookings and accommodation-related issues

Skills and background:

Essential Skills

  • Excellent numerical skills (ideally with financial-specific experience) and excellent computer literacy
  • Advanced Excel or G-suite skills with the ability to capture and interpret large data sets from multiple sources
  • Superior analytical skills and a meticulous eye for detail
  • Able to confidently present and promote data-driven decisions to the team
  • Self-starter able to work on own initiative whilst maintaining a strong ‘team-player’ mentality
  • Ability to multitask, well organised and a good communicator

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in the travel or events industry
  • Understanding of, and involvement in, payment procedures
  • Proficient in SQL (or willing to learn)
  • Dancing until sunrise

Salary & Benefits:

  • Permanent, full time position - must be eligible to work in the UK and be based in London
  • Base Salary £25,000
  • £3K Commision (after probationary period)
