The Yacht Week News Blog
See you soon !
August 30th, 2010
It s been 48 hours I’m back in my apartment, in Lille in France.
Strange feeling.
No noise at night, no sound system to set up in less than 5 minutes, no CDs to burn everyday, no jump contest, no Karlowacko, no more sun 24/7 and nobody to share a cabin with (Jeg elsker a seile) …yes, strange feeling!
This summer has been crazy, even the way back to France ! It was fun to discover the airport of Split on saturday morning, at 6, full of Yacht Weekers, still in a very good mood – I would love to know the turnover of the small bar at the first floor this day…
I don’t know how many people I met those last 5 weeks. From the crazy spanish week 30 to the american girls in the plane on my way back 2 days ago.
I also don’t know how many languages I’ve been speaking ! Especially at night !
I can’t name everybody I had a good time with (the list is too long!) but I would like to thank ALL OF YOU for an AMAZING spirit every week.
A lot of people asked me how I do to manage 5 weeks of parties. The answer is pretty simple : you gave me so much energy ! (Especially every wednesday in Hvar)
…And maybe also because of the Redbull
I also would like to thank everybody I shared the crew boat with. No exception. Everybody added his own “touch”.
A lot of respect to Emma & Fortuna, the girls from behind to every guest DJ and to the staff of every venue we rocked. All together they made every party possible, even when we were banned from an harbour ! And of course the same respect for William, Erik and Johan that have been managing this season as good as possible, considering the incredible number of hysteric people we had as customers !!! – Should I also speak about the skippers…?
In my opinion The Yacht Week stays the best way to spend summer holidays. Sailing during the day, partying at night, smiling every time.
Stay tuned because a looot of events will be organized this year, before and after our trip in the Caribbean in december.
It has been a real (and intense) pleasure to play music for you this summer,
Lots of love from a little village in the North of France
Pierre

Half way through the first week of the Greek Yacht Week today..
It is beyond great here. Fantastic guests, not too hysterical, amazing parties, just the way it’s supposed to be! This is very close to as good as it gets (although girlfriend and family would complete the picture).
We just spent two weeks in Ibiza & Formentera for our first experimental event there. It was a small event around two beatiful islands with the best party ambient around.
We had many of the critical pieces to succeed, but we lacked the necessary professional yachting company to partner up with. Until this point we have only worked with the best partners and even though we did a pre visit in October we got big troubles with the gangster like methods the company possessed. We had to put the organization with help of some noble skippers (Henry Porter and more) in Charter Company mode and undertake tasks we should normally never do. This scenario justifies a big excuse to each of the clients that joined us. We will follow up on this and apologise to all the clients this effected and want to assure you we are doing everything possible to follow up on this.
Regardless we did indeed have some great moments. A perfect night at Pacha – Swedish House Mafia, probably one of the best organized parties around. Formentera is another story, and if you have seen the Estrella Damm video – http://www.theyachtweek.com/ibiza/the-concept, you’d know what we are talking about. Endless beaches, superb drinks, mud baths and all the indigents for a perfect time.
Big Sur, a restaurant by the beach run by a hospitality veteran, Bruno, offered not only a tasty cuisine, great staff and service, but more importantly, the nicest sunset in the Belearics. I recommend everyone to go to Formentera at least once. There’s no chance you’ll ever be disappointed.
Now, back to Greece. Here we run a smaller set of boats (app. 25) and the cooperation with the locals run’s very smoothly. Sunset every night and late nights often turn into mornings – King at night, Prince in the morning, as Pierre – our music boss, puts it.

We are heading to Spetses tonight, this islands first choice for the local Athens crowd. We have heard very good rumors about a bar/club in the port there. So now we just have to make sure everyone goes swimming and sailing till 1600 and then piles up the boats tightly so we all fit in. Leo, Johan and the rest of the crew are here with there usual great attitude, but thats easy with so many nice people around. The skippers are turning out the most popular among the guests and deliver great service.
This week in Greece, there is not a single Swedish booking, which reflects our achievement towards creating a more international event. We have many Spanish Crew (Luis – after all you did a good job
). There are crews from South Africa, Australia, New Zeeland (a nice group who are realizing there own Bucket List – thanks for putting The Yacht Week in this context), Canada (Toronto), US (many different places), Italy, Finland the UK and more. A truly international event. Stay tuned fo photos on facebook.com/theyachtweek and of course – on our website.
Greece is turning out as a more relaxing option to Croatia but don’t underestimate the potential, this is heaven.
Over and About,
Erik

Greece here we go!
August 13th, 2010
The Yacht Week Greece starts now on Saturday!!
Me and Alex, our Country manager from Romania, arrived to Lavrio tonight after a really heavy trip… Split to München (=???) to Athens and finally taxi to Lavrio!
Like if 4 weeks of crazy parties & work in Croatia were not enough..:) We left Hvar by ferry at 6.30 am directly from the club. Got 1 hour of sleep in the ferry and that was it. Fast breakfast in Split and then moved to Kastela Marina for more work and packing. Late arrival at the airport..and of course lots of overweight.
Arriving in Lavrio marina around 01.00 am we had to broke into a random boat as the marina staff was already gone. We were so lucky.. we broke the boat assigned as a crew boat for next week, so we get to keep our cabins..:)
And now, we are just enjoying the greek quiet atmosphere, at our local office of course.

Overweight?

News from Croatia : everything is under control… I repeat : everything is under control ! Even our captain is smiling today ! Maybe its due to the several norwegian |only| girls crew we have this week
Want to see some pictures of those crews ? Wait for saturday night
Cheers from Vis and Big Up to the Austrian crew that “invited” me for a nice day of sailing on saturday.

We were six crews sailing together all week last year and all of them has booked week 31 this year. No use to change a winning concept so we all left together for the blue caves this morning and anchored up together. Everyone was pretty tired after last nights afterparty where we took “vaskning” to a whole new level.
We sent off our crews to the caves and got a quick nap before they returned and all skippers headed off to what we really has been waiting for since last year. The cliff is 23 meters high and perfect for jumping! Jonas was shooting while Krille, Anders, Carl and me were enjoying ourselves. I love doing backflips and when the cliff is this high it’s really amazing. The sensations of laying with your head first looking at the cliff is hard to describe!

I belive I can fly!

For the first time in Yacht Week history it’s not 40 degrees hot and sunny the changing day. Actually it’s rain showers and not above 25 degrees, the perfect weather for a saturday if you ask anyone in the crew. I’m just as tired as always on changing days and not at all interested in talking to customers about damaged boats and lost deposit.
This week I will check out from the crew boat and go sailing for real on a Sun Odyssey 54 DS. The crew my favourite one, the same as last year which some of you might reckon from the youtube trailer, “jag elsker o seile”. These girls knows how to party and I’ve really been looking forward to this week. I’m sure it will be just as sick as last year!

My first week at The Yacht Week 2010 is about to end. It’s just the closing party at Hemingway in Split that remains but right now it’s actually raining in Croatia and I’ve got some work to do before tomorrow so I think I just hang out on the crew boat the last night. Next week I know I will have a pretty crazy crew so I will need all the sleep I can get. To summarize the first week everything worked out really good. Some minor incidents with skippers having too much fun in someone else’s cabin, another that needed to be replaced and a Lagoon 440 that almost sank but all in all a really good week.
Thank you everyone and see you next year!
