Wondering if you can party your way around seven remote European islands? The answer is yes. Definitely. That’s the kind of thing Yacht Week is known for. Yacht party Europe… but definitely one that’s curated by a team with decades of sailing and hosting experience.
We’ll get into that, as well as the other ways of touring and partying around Europe. There are 7 ways, all with their pros and cons. Let’s see which one’s the best.
Have you checked out the routes? For a party sailing holiday, you can choose established trips around Croatia, Greece, and Sicily.

The best time to go is from May to September. If you join a scheduled trip, you’ll need to block off 7 days. You’ll find options for groups, couples, and even solo travellers.
The cost depends on the route, yacht, and the week/date of your trip. Expect this to vary from €800–€4,000+.
How you go about party-sailing around Europe depends on your budget and your preference for pre-set itineraries.
One of your best choices is to go on Shared-Yacht Flotillas and its more music-forward cousin, the Sail + Festival Combo trips. Both of these are Yacht Week trademark trips.
Travel aboard your chosen yacht along with a flotilla of other guests. There is an established route. You sail to different locations daily and make island stops and multiple boat raft-ups. The social vibe is typically very high. Lots of parties. And you’ll have several opportunities to socialise with others in your flotilla.
Festival combos are of a somewhat different beat. Your trip is planned around music festivals, such as Ultra and Balance. It’s a good way to get the most out of your European holiday.

Both cost between €900 and €2,800, depending on your yacht accommodations. And, since you’ll be living in a yacht, expect compact quarters and make sure to pack your sea legs.
If you prefer a more exclusive sailing experience, then choose between a Private Yacht Charter or a Gulet/Schooner Cabin Charter.
Private charters offer the ultimate flexibility. Your routes are fully customizable and you get the entire boat to yourself. You decide where you want to go so do some research first. And, privacy comes with a steep price tag. Somewhere between €1,800 and €4,000+.
Gulets offer a more traditional "shared deck" experience. They’re great for social couples.
The main trade-off is that gulets stick to fixed routes. This will set you back by €1,100 to €2,800+, depending on the route.
If you prioritise comfort and ease of logistics, consider Small-Ship Cruises (40–150 pax) or Guided Group Tours. Here, you trade spontaneous island discovery for a more predictable, curated itinerary.
Small ships are very stable and perfect for comfort-first sea travellers. However, expect a set schedule and less swim time.
Guided group tours use a mix of ferries and day boats to take you around the islands. You get bits and pieces of everything (ideally) but expect it to be busy. Lots of moving around.
The cost of both options can range from €900 to €3,000.
The most budget-friendly format is Land-Based Ferry Hopping, costing roughly €700–€1,800.
Instead of sleeping on a boat, you stay in hotels and use local ferries to move between 3–5 islands. This format is ideal for independent travellers who prefer more time on solid ground.
Expect the "transit overhead" to be high. You’ll be spending more time in ports and less time in the secluded, hidden bays that only a boat can reach.
| Format | Islands in 7 days | Flexibility | Social vibe | Sea conditions | Typical cost per person | Best for | Trade-offs |
| Shared-yacht flotilla (skippered) | 5–7 | High (swim bays + small harbors) | Very high (multi-boat socials) | Calm–moderate (route-dependent) | €900–€2,500 | 6–12 friends; solos/couples (cabin share) | Compact cabins; light provisioning |
| Small-ship cruise (40–150 pax) | 4–6 | Medium (fixed route) | Medium (bigger group, less intimate) | Very stable | €1,200–€3,000 | Comfort-first couples/groups | Less swim time; set schedule |
| Private yacht charter (with skipper) | 5–7 | Very high (custom) | Variable (your group only) | Route-dependent | €1,800–€4,000+ | Privacy-seeking groups | Higher total cost; more planning |
| Gulet/schooner cabin charter | 4–6 | Medium (set route) | Medium–high (shared deck life) | Stable | €1,100–€2,800 | Social couples/small groups | Fixed schedule; less nimble |
| Sail + festival combo (e.g., ULTRA weeks) | 4–6 | Medium (event anchors dates) | Max (event-driven) | Moderate | €1,200–€2,800 (+ add-ons) | Grads/party-forward weeks | Demand peaks; strict cut-offs |
| Guided group tour + day boats | 3–5 | Low–medium (ferries) | Medium | N/A | €900–€1,800 | First-timers wanting structure | Less time afloat; transit overhead |
| Land-based ferry hopping | 3–5 | Low–medium | Low–medium (split across hotels) | N/A | €700–€1,800 | Budget travelers | Time lost in transit; fewer bays |
Travelling in flotillas has unique advantages.
5–7 island cadence with daily swim time: Short daylight hops maximise bays and golden-hour arrivals; you’re in the water most days, not staring at it.

Parties and coastal community visits are planned into the itinerary: If you want to meet new friends and have social opportunities scheduled into the trip, join a flotilla.
Skipper-included confidence: No sailing experience needed; licensed skippers handle navigation, mooring, and safety so you focus on the week.
Photo-worthy moments by design: Raft-ups, parties, regattas, and bay swims, aside from island explorations. Your phone’s memory would need backup.
Operational guardrails: Clear safety briefings, raft/night rules, and duty-of-care practices minimise the chaos that can derail “DIY” flotillas.
Choose your vibe: Yacht Week Routes share a formula (yachts, skipper, flotilla, parties) but the vibes are massively different. Croatia is high-energy and very social. Greece feels a bit more intimate. And Sicily is all about the adventure.
Per-person or per-yacht budget control: Cabin share keeps entry costs predictable. Full-yacht bookings spread costs across 8–12 people, often matching or beating small-ship cruises on a per-person basis.
Definitely choose the vibe that you’re into when joining a flotilla. Croatia for the most social opportunities and nightlife. Greece for a more personal experience + Greek delicacies. Sicily for adventure and Italian cuisine. You get ample sailing and swim time, and island explorations with all of these choices.
Music festivals happen between July and August, and this is the peak season for European travel. Book early so you don’t miss out.
There are extra costs too when you join a flotilla. Yachts have a shared “cash-kitty” to cover fuel, food and drinks, and other incidentals. For seven days at sea, this can go up to €380.
Also, yachts have compact cabins and a shared galley and deck. The motion of the ocean would factor into your everyday comfort, too. If you get sea-sick easily, choose calmer routes, such as Greece, or select a wide-beam cat for your yacht.
Do I need sailing experience for Yacht Week?
No. Licensed skippers handle navigation and mooring; guests may help with lines/fenders lightly.
Which option is most social?
Curated flotillas and festival combos.
Which is most comfortable?
Small-ship cruises and larger catamarans; private charters can be very comfortable if the budget allows.
How many islands can I see?
Typically 5–7 on flotillas/private charters, 4–6 on small-ships/gulets, 3–5 with land/ferries.
Is it safe?
Choose reputable operators with clear rules. Yacht Week runs safety briefings, raft/night protocols, and skipper-led standards.
