Yacht Week Solo: Smashing Solo Travel Misconceptions

Yacht Week

Solo travel is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Forget the misconceptions that may be holding you back. That travelling alone is more expensive. That it’s lonely and your options are limited.

We’re not saying that these can’t happen. But with Yacht Week’s recently launched Solo Spot booking, you’ll shake off these misconceptions and book your next flight to Europe.

Solo Travelling on a Budget

Cost is a major consideration when it comes to solo travel. Without a partner to split fees with, you're on the hook for the full fare. Hotel, transport, you name it. What if you want to sail the Adriatic, Aegean, or the Tyrrhenian Seas? Are you stuck on land if you can’t pay for your own yacht?

Yacht Week’s Solo breaks the price barrier. Book solo and pay for one. Not the whole cabin (unless you want to). Not the whole yacht. You get full access to all the events lined up for your flotilla.

Spend seven days on a yacht, exploring iconic European sea routes. You are guaranteed a shared double bed cabin accommodation.

Book Solo, Travel with a Community

Just because you start the trip alone doesn’t mean you spend the rest of it alone. You will meet people on the road, locals and fellow travellers alike. That’s the beauty of it.

A typical Yacht Week trip includes several parties, raft-ups, shared dinners, and other flotilla events. You will have several opportunities to connect with others. You’ll find that shared adventure can easily turn strangers into new friends.

Choose Your Sailing Route

Explore established sea routes in Croatia, Greece, and Sicily. These routes are otherwise costly or inaccessible if you travel alone. Through a solo spot with Yacht Week, you get a yacht with a crew to split costs with and follow a flexible itinerary.

The Croatia Route includes visits to the UNESCO World Heritage town of Trogir, the “St. Tropez of Croatia” Hvar, and the historic island of Vis, home to a 200-year old fortress Fort George. Swim stops, parties, and tours of other islands (like Bol and Milna) in the Adriatic Sea are also planned into the itinerary. This is the OG Yacht Week so it’s very popular. You will meet a lot of people.

Greece, on the other hand, is a bit more laid back than Yacht Week Croatia. Flotillas for our Aegean Sea explorations are typically smaller so the experience is more intimate. The route takes you to Poros, Hydra, and Ermioni, as well as natural bay swim stops and raft-up parties. This trip is a full immersion into the Greek islands, their culture, and local food and wine.

If you want raw adventure, Sicily is your route. Here, you’ll sail the Tyrrhenian Sea, visit its islands, and even trek the Stromboli Volcano. Evenings are spent in secluded bays or at exclusive venues, such as Raya. Yacht Week Sicily is the best of both worlds: an adventure-led journey that’s also a leisurely retreat for your sophisticated tastes.

How Does Yacht Week Solo Work?

A solo spot at Yacht Week offers advantages you won’t find elsewhere. 7 days living on a yacht. A host and skipper to take care of the logistics. Organised activities, raft parties, dockside parties, and other flotilla events.

Getting your spot is easy. Just choose your route then book a solo cabin. We’ll take care of the rest. We’ll put together the crew and assign you a cabin mate (same gender). The others on your yacht will be a mix: solo travellers, couples, or bigger groups.

Once you have your spot, just book a flight to the nearest airport and meet us at the marina.

No Need to Wait

You don’t have to keep waiting for other people’s schedules to clear up or for your friends to commit. Go on an adventure of a lifetime. Just take it from some of our solo guests:

“One of the best weeks of my life! I would highly recommend doing this trip. I was a solo traveler and loved everyone on my catamaran including the host and skipper. I will be back! Looking for my next booking already!” – Jeff

“Certainly not for the faint hearted. Jam packed with events and parties, you’re never short of something to do. In fact, if anything you’ll struggle on finding time to sleep, in fear of missing out… I travelled completely solo and I joined a crew of 11 others I’d never met before.” – R.

“Best week of my life. I traveled to the YW solo and met my crew on the Facebook CrewFinder page. I am so glad I did. I met so many amazing people, went to places I had never been and partied the night away with like-minded people from around the world. As soon as we returned, we booked another trip. Can't wait for many more. Worth every penny.” – Lacey

You know the next step.
